Company Profile: The Electricity Governance Initiative (EGI) (http://electricitygovernance.wri.org) seeks a highly motivated and independent person to play a significant role in its research during the summer of 2013. EGI is a global network of civil society organizations dedicated to promoting transparent, inclusive and accountable decision-making in the electricity sector. EGI facilitates a collaboration of civil society, policymakers, regulators, and other electricity sector actors using a common framework to define “good governance.”This intern will work on a paper that seeks to build on previous study by WRI that assessed successful country level energy efficiency programs for household appliances. This second proposed study intends to build on this previous research to help build a stronger case for consumer involvement in label design process, which will ultimately lead to greater consumer awareness and low carbon development. Specifically, the project will determine if the provision of a supplemental flyer / label that gives potential consumers information relating to the operational cost of the appliance will enhance the likelihood of consumers purchasing more energy efficient appliances.
